All auditions are manually reviewed. Any violations of the below will result in your audition not getting delivered and possibly not being allowed to use the system.
After you submit your audition, 2 things happen. #1, it is reviewed by our security team to make sure you are following the rules (example: only performing given script, as the last thing we want to do is annoy a casting director so that they might not look at our other submissions). #2, once verified, it is displayed on an easy to view casting portal that is private to the casting director and their assistants. Your video will never be re-posted or released to anyone anywhere. The security of your video is based on if you select "private" when uploading to a video service such as YouTube.
This is a free service to actors because it is funded by the Thespian Project as well as funded by optional contributions such as upgrading headshot attachments, or highlighting submissions. These funds go to make sure that this service can remain free to actors and casting directors. Some castings do cost the casting company funds due to the amount of labor that is involved in hosting their casting call. However these funds are redistributed back into the project to keep the system free for all.
Absolutely not. In fact, you are bypassing the agent on this type of audition. However if you are interested in obtaining an agent, very soon we will be offering a showcase where agents and talent can meet and make connections.
No this is not a problem. Just pay attention to the union and non union listings because some unions will not let you work for non union jobs. However, most union jobs that are posted are aware and requesting a large pool of talent who may not be union, with the understanding that they may need to hire a non union actor. If this is the case, the appropriate paperwork and measures will be taken and will follow in accordance with the Taft-Hartley Act.
